The Next Steps of the Reformation [Session 1]
When Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses in Wittenberg, Germany on October 31, 1517, he started a movement of protest and reforms that quickly spread through much of Europe. Luther was not alone in his concerns of theological changes that had occurred in the Roman Catholic Church during the Medieval Era, nor was he alone in his concern of what many saw as papal abuses of authority. Luther's concern sparked a firestorm, and what started a single voice quickly rose into entire nations joining in the protest. They saw a need to go back to scripture and let it be the guiding principle of the church. In this conference we will look at the next steps that occurred after Luther’s posting of the 95 Theses and look into some of the key theological debates that are still relevant today, topics that continue to separate Protestants and the Roman Catholic Church.
